DAY ONE –ROME
Pick up from airport by private van and driver for transfer to hotel.
Start with an introductory Coffee and then tour of Museo Nazionale Romano, with the former Ruins of the Baths of Diocletian. Evening Introducing Rome on The Grand Tour, Private Tour. We will start from “Piazza di Spagna” and the Spanish steps and the Trevi Fountain with a short visit to the Underground Cittá dell’acqua. This tour will give a general overview of Rome History, we will stop for and Aperitif. Welcome Dinner in Campo de Fiori.
DAY TWO - ROME
Morning touring the Colosseum and Palatine Hill and central archeological Area.
Lunch and then Trastevere Undergrounds Tour
Trastevere is one of Rome’s oldest and better-preserved neighborhoods. The alleyways, lanes, churches, old traditional bakeries and shops will offer a pleasant, relaxed and authentic experience of Rome. The tour starts from the Church of San Crisogono, which was built in the late Middle Ages and now has the appearance of a typical roman baroque church. Hidden in its undergrounds are various frescoes of the original basilica of the 5th century.
DAY THREE – ROME
Discover Saint Angels Castle and what lies underneath Piazza Navona. Walking through the wonders of Baroque Rome, one of the most famous square of the Eternal City which peculiar Shape shape is due to the ruins of the Stadium of Domitian, where some ancient structure was found by the end of XIX cent: stairs, furnaces and brick arcades under the square.
We will stop for lunch around the Pantheon before visiting the Pagan crypts and Christian Catacombs and finishing the day with a driving tour of the old roman road, Appian Way
DAY FOUR – ROME
Discover the Undergrounds of the Celian Hill and the Capitoline Hill and Museums, with a walking tour. San Clemente Underground Church and Mithreum and the Roman Houses under Santi Giovanni e Paolo on the Celio. The Basilica of San Clemente in Rome is one of the most fascinating sites of the eternal city: with its three layers, built one on top of the other, it reflects the historical stratification of Rome from the Ancient Roman times till nowadays. The Capitoline Hill is the smallest and most important of the seven hills of Ancient Rome. Even before the Republican era Rome's kings built massive temples on the Capitoline Hill.
DAY FIVE - ROME
Mithra and the Roman Houses
The Crypta Balbi is a museum unique of its kind that represents an extraordinary witness of the evolution of the Roman society and of the urban landscape from the ancient times to the 20th Century. The visit includes an exhibition on three floors and a route among the various buildings that can help us to understand the social habits and the economic activities during the dark period that marks the shift from the ancient times to the Middle Age. The Undergrounds of Santa Maria in via Lata is believed to be one of the palace of imprisonment of St Paul, here many findings date back to the early century and it is possible to visit the frescoed wall of the ancient monastery that once was here. We will explore this unique undergrounds and see the relics of the chain of Paul and also the area where human remains have been found
