“Rome wasn’t built in a day” is a popular saying and it’s impossible to visit all of Rome in only one day! But you may still get an overview of the highlights, and see some of Rome’s greatest attractions.

This Rome in One Day Private Driving Tour starts from the archaeological heart of the eternal city, the Amphiteatrum Flavium, better known as the Colosseum (or Coliseum), where thousands of cruel fights between beasts and slaves took place. We will then admire the majesty of the triumphal Arch of Emperor Constantine. Visiting the nearby Roman Forum is a real journey into ancient Roman history, from the early Seven Kings to the Late Roman Empire. Every man who ruled Rome left a reminder of himself in Rome’s main public square. From the Rome of the Emperors to the Rome of the Popes: we will take a walk in the heart of Baroque Rome. Starting from Trevi Fountain, the monumental celebration of the Virgin Aqueduct, we will cross the Galleria Colonna and visit the Piazza Colonna, taking its name from the Column erected in celebration of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. After is the Piazza Montecitorio, built as a palace it is now the seat of the Italian Parliament. Then the Piazza Sant’Ignazio, a beautiful rococo square, and the Jesuit renaissance church with the illusionist dome by Andrea Pozzo. We will see the Pantheon with its huge dome and then the church of St. Louis of France, with the famous canvases by Caravaggio, and then to see the eclectic dome of Saint Ivo alla Sapienza by Borromini. Our morning tour will finish off with Piazza Navona and its famous fountain of the Four Rivers designed by Bernini for Pope Innocent X Pamphilj.

After a break for lunch (on your own) we will visit the Vatican Museums: from the Pinecone Courtyard, crossing the collection of Greek and Roman sculptures, the Rooms painted by Raphael, the amazing Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, ending up with a photo opportunity in Saint Peters Square, we will drop you off back at the hotel.
