The Catacombs of Rome: Stories of Martyrs, Saints, and Virgins- Virtual Experience 

Rome has about 60 catacombs, which contain millions of burials. The largest of them, Saint Callixtus (San Callisto) on the Appian Way, has half a million burials alone, over 20 kilometers of galleries on several levels.  We will take a virtual journey in the amazing undergrounds learning about the stories of the many Martyrs and the Saints buried here, which attracted pilgrims for centuries but also tomb looters. Today only five catacombs are regularly opened to the public, with another dozen opened upon request or on special occasions. 

In this virtual experience, we will learn how the catacombs started and how the burial was carried out by the early Christians of Rome.
