Day Trip to Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii from Naples

9:00 AM: Pickup from Naples Centre or Port and transfer to Vesuvius.

10:00 AM: Ascend the legendary Mount Vesuvius, driving up its rugged slopes before embarking on a thrilling hike to the volcano’s summit. Peer into the awe-inspiring crater of this still-active volcano, which last erupted in 1944. Although the iconic plume of smoke vanished in 1948, locals remain wary as scientists predict eruptions every 30-40 years.

Upon arrival at the base, an official guide will lead us on a 1.5 km trek to the top, where breathtaking views and a glimpse into the volcanic cone await.

11:30 AM: Transfer to Pompeii.

12:30 PM: Enjoy lunch in Pompeii or opt for a visit to a winery on the slopes of Vesuvius (lunch and winery visit not included).

1:45 PM: Dive into history with a guided tour of Pompeii. Founded in the 7th century B.C., Pompeii offers a unique glimpse into Roman daily life, contrasting with Rome's monumental architecture. Established as a Roman colony in 80 B.C., Pompeii flourished with grand temples, villas, and palaces. The city was nearly rebuilt after a devastating earthquake in 63 A.D. when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D., burying it under layers of molten lava and ash. Around two thousand inhabitants perished, their final moments preserved in haunting detail.

Explore the Amphitheatre, Gladiators’ Gymnasium, Lupanar, Thermal Baths, Forum, and more. Marvel at the frescoes and ruins that paint a vivid picture of ancient Roman life.

4:15 PM: Transfer back to Naples.

6:00 PM: Arrival at the ship.
